IWM Duxford | IWM In Conversation With: Squadron Leader John Reeves: Operation Black Buck
Squadron Leader John Reeve had a long and distinguished career in both military and civil aviation. While serving in the Royal Air Force, he was an Avro Vulcan pilot and was one of the pilots selected to take a leading role in Operation Black Buck, the 1982 missions during the Falklands conflict designed to deny the Argentinian forces the use of Port Stanley airport. John flew in two Black Buck missions and was the primary bomber for Black Buck 1, forced to return to base after his aircraft suffered a technical malfunction. This is a unique opportunity to hear his amazing account. TIcket holders can also purchase a ticket to see inside our Avro Vulcan. Your expert guide will show the inside of the aircraft and you will see all the crew positions, sit in the pilots seat, and have ample opportunity to take photographs. (Tours are for three people per tour, will take place throughout the day and will last 25 minutes each. Tickets for this tour are only available to people who are booking for the main speaker event).
